胡应和(安徽绩溪宅坦村人)教授于1982年获中科院遗传所遗传学硕士,1990年获美国依阿华大学生物化学系博士,1990~1993年在哥伦比亚大学Eric R. Kandel(2000年Nobel 医学和生理学奖获得者)实验室做博士后。此后,曾任美国Genomics Institute of the Novartis Research Foundation研究员、Memory Pharmaceutical公司和美国Bayer 公司任科学家。2002年9月全职回国,任教育部 “脑功能基因组学重点实验室”主任,上海市“脑功能基因组学重点实验室”执行主任,华东师范大学“脑功能基因组学研究所”执行所长,华东师范大学“紫江特聘教授”,华东师范大学终身教授,教育部科技委员会委员,国家科技部“973计划”首席科学家,并先后主持两项科技部“863计划”项目。胡应和博士在脑功能基因组学研究领域有突出贡献,在《自然》、《神经元》《美国科学院院刊》等著名杂志发表论文多篇。
胡应和博士是国际上最早利用基因芯片等高新技术开展脑功能基因组学研究的科学家之一,对大脑活动和脑衰老过程中的基因表达图谱进行了深入研究,取得了重要进展,率先在《美国国家科学院学报》发表了两篇有关脑功能基因组图谱的研究论文。最近,他系统研究了PS1/PS2基因双敲除的老年痴呆症小鼠模型大脑基因表达变化,探讨老年痴呆的发病机理,发现了治疗老年痴呆症重要的药物靶标。
胡应和博士所领导的研究组进行脑功能基因组表达图谱、基因药靶、天然药物筛选分析、高通量药物筛选和新药的研究和开发工作,并获得美国和欧洲的发明专利多项。由于胡应和博士在脑功能基因组学研究和药物开发方面所取得的重要贡献,获得BAYER科学技术奖,MEMORY特殊贡献奖等多项奖励。美国的APPLIED GENOMICS AND PROTEIOMICS,CURRENT CHEMICAL BIOLOGY等杂志先后邀请他撰写有关中枢神经系统功能基因组学的权威性综述论文。
在蛋白质组学技术研究方面,胡应和博士创建的DPAS技术在国际上首次能够根据氨基酸序列来分析蛋白质,突破了过去针对每一个蛋白质都必须筛选其特异性配体的传统方法,使蛋白质芯片技术的研究产生了革命性的飞跃。由于DPAS技术的新颖性、高敏感性和特异性,能够精确检测细胞内微量蛋白质,并进行定量分析。因此利用DPAS技术,可以研制开发新一代蛋白质芯片,用于药物靶标的鉴定和临床诊断应用。对国家中长期规划中强调的蛋白质组学研究及靶标的发现具有重大推动作用。有关他的照片可在百度点击“胡应和”专条
